WHAT SERVICES DO YOU PROVIDE?

We offer sailing cruises, holidays, yacht delivery, seamanship courses and sailing events in Scottish waters or overseas, delivered by an experienced RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Skipper

WHEN AND WHERE DO YOU SAIL?

Our sailing season starts in April and ends in October for skippers yacht charters. We take off from ports and marinas in the Clyde, Mid Argyll, Oban, Mallaig and Gairloch.

HOW MANY ROOMS DOES BLUEBIRD HAVE?

Bluebird has accommodation comprising of two double cabins (one en suite) and the main saloon which has two single berths suitable for five guests. She has full central heating, hot and cold running water and a separate heads compartment (marine toilet) with wash hand basin and shower.

ARE GUESTS ALLOWED TO HELP SAIL BLUEBIRD?

All our guests are invited to get involved in the day to day running of the yacht, helming, navigating, sail handling, etc., or to simply sit back and enjoy the stunning scenery, it’s completely up to you!

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE CHARTER TRIPS?

All meals and soft drinks and snacks are included. Bedding, towels, waterproofs are all included. Trips are basically all inclusive apart from shore excursions and alcohol which are available for a fee.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME ON MY TRIP?

Small soft bag, warm clothing as Scotland can be cold sometimes, swimming clothing, personal toiletries, and a camera to capture and store fun moments from your trip!

IS BEDDING PROVIDED?

Yes all bedding is provided.

WHAT SORT OF ACTIVITIES ARE AVAILABLE?

When on the yacht you will enjoying fast sailing and great food. Activities off the boat can be arranged easily by our skipper and there is a huge amount to do in Scotland. Hiking, walking, whisky tours, fishing, running, fine dining off and on the yacht, tennis, golf, swimming the list goes on…… Should you want we can organise water sports, including banana boating, water skiing, wake boarding and more.

WHAT MONTHS IS THE WATER WARM ENOUGH TO SWIM IN?

The water is cold in Scotland unlike the Mediterranean but you can swim at any time in the year providing you are a strong capable swimmer and that you are able to withstand cold water temperatures. You also need to be fit and healthy and it is entirely up to the guest and is their responsibility should they choose to swim.

CAN I BE REACHED BY PHONE OR INTERNET WHILE SAILING?

Around the west coast there is plenty of mobile reception and also 3G and 4G so Internet access is not a problem. We also have wifi on the boat at certain locations and is free to use.

ARE THERE CHARGING POINTS AVAILABLE ON THE YACHT?

There are plenty of charing points throughout the yacht available to charge cameras, phones, tablets and laptops.

DO YOU STOP OFF AND MOOR SOMEWHERE EVERY DAY?

The holiday is your holiday and itineraries are worked out based on your input. We do suggest stopping off every day as this allows you to enjoy Scotland. We are very flexible and we want all our guests to get the most out of their holiday on our yacht.

WHAT TYPE OF FOOD AND DRINKS ARE SERVED ON BOARD?

Our skipper is also an award winning chef and owned his own restaurant for over 20 years. Food onboard is excellent and fresh local produce is served on a daily basis. We pride ourselves of being one of the few yachts on the west coast that provides a 5 star standard of food dishes and we go the extra mile to make sure we live up to our reputation. We have a selection of lovely wines to complement our dishes and can be bought from the ships bar!

DO YOU CATER FOR SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

We cater for all types of special dietary requirements and are happy to adapt our menus to suit, just please let us know. Nothing is a problem.

IF THE WEATHER IS BAD WILL WE STILL SAIL?

Our yacht is capable of withstanding all sorts of weather thrown at us. If the weather is not ideal we discuss with our guests what they would like to do. If you don’t mind the bad weather we will go sailing but we understand that this is a holiday for our guests and should they want to do something more relaxing that is not a problem.

CAN I BOOK SHORT ONE OR TWO DAY TRIPS?

We offer day trips and two day trips right up to 4 week charters. We are very flexible with what our guests are looking for and we customise every trip for our guests.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY TRIP AND WHAT ARE THE TERMS?

You can pay by bank transfer, cash or cheque. Terms are 20% of balance at time of booking and 2 weeks before your holiday starts the balance should be paid in full.

HOW EARLY DO I NEED TO BOOK?

We do have last minute deals for berths still to be filled but we do suggest that you book as soon as you can to guarantee your holiday as spaces do fill up fast for the summer.

HOW CAN I GET TO YOU BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

We start most of our charters in Oban and there is a direct train from Glasgow. There are also direct busses from Glasgow to Oban. You can fly to Oban airport from Glasgow. Should you want to start your charter anywhere else there is always public transport available and we can help with travel should you require it.

IS SMOKING ALLOWED?

Smoking is allowed but we kindly ask for our guests to smoke on deck and be respectful to other who may not smoke.
